My life has been interesting as they say. Rescued from a hell of addiction, toxic relationships and spiralling mental illness in my mid-20s, to live a love relationship with Jesus in community and service. I have travelled extensively ministering in many countries, including Israel, the Philippines, and India. Working as a nurse all of my employed career I am now retired, living on the beautiful Darling Downs in a town called Toowoomba where we experience each of the beautiful seasons of the year. My greatest joy is knowing God’s love for me.
This book is my life story beginning with a childhood as an often-naughty twin moving often with parents who successfully bought, managed and on-sold small regional businesses in country NSW, and south-east Queensland. The years from mid-teenage through to the mid-20s are described in the first half of the book - a progression through boarding school experiences, training to be a nurse, a boyfriend in a bikie gang, drug use and addiction, an abusive marriage and subsequent breakdown, an abortion, and sadly, hospitalised mental illness episodes. And the way these experiences brought me to a place of recognising and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as my savior, and to total surrender to a different lifestyle knowing His love in reassuring intimacy every step of the way.
This journey of restoration, knowing God’s love, and dedicating a lifetime of service to minister that love wherever I am called by the Spirit, is then described throughout the second part of the book. A full career of nursing work, alongside committed bible study, church involvement, and missionary travel to different countries is retold alongside the challenges along the way of issues around addiction spilling into relationships and mental health, all handled in the context of my love relationship with Jesus.
The ending is intended to not only be inspiring but revelationary, knowing that I have assurance from the Word and the Spirit that I am never alone because Jesus is always with me. It is my story. It is a true story. And now I feel I am in full flight, swinging through life with an increasing momentum to share the story of God’s love for me and for each one of us.
